EBook – Pronoun Publishing
I have written two children’s books during my career.
This is my second, dedicated to my nephew who took his own life just a few weeks after he turned twelve years old.
I have five grandchildren who are subjected to bullying, a coward’s way of displaying power over another and occurs at any age.
Hopefully through this book, both children and adults will learn how dangerous bullying can be. It’s not something which can be dismissed as a childhood ‘stage.’
My first book – Secret Beneath the House – is the story of two children left alone for the day. What they find under the house is another magical world.
I also write Best Selling/Award Winning Western Romance and Best Selling Contemporary Romance under a pen name.
I have been married for 43 years, have 2 married sons and 5 gorgeous grandchildren.
Hubby and I are retired and love to travel Australia with our caravan, our elderly Jack Russell dog – Caellagh (Kelly) and a very opinionated Cockatiel called Rocky.

Kids at school hated me and I didn’t know why.
My parents refused to listen and told me to ‘grow up’.
I had no-one to turn to, no-one would listen.
I begged. I pleaded – Please, don’t ignore me. It fell on deaf ears.
They’re listening now, but it’s too late.
Based on true events.

Meet Cordelia Eaton. She’s 12 years old and decidedly unremarkable in all aspects of her life. In her darkest hours, she learns of her family’s legacy and that she is far from ordinary. Her family not only lives and works on the water as fishermen, but they return to the sea upon their death and live eternally below as mermaids. Follow Cordelia in this riveting coming of age story, where she’ll confront past hurts in her earthly life and make plans for her future life – The Life Below.
“…for he loved the sea that captured him in his final moments…” I pick at the hem of my dress as I hear the preacher drone on about my father and how much he loved the sea. Not about his family or his only child, me, but his one truest love…the sea.
I dodge hugs from all the women in the funeral line who offer their condolences with little feeling behind their words. They tell me to take things one day at a time. They tell me it will get better. They tell me to keep my chin up. I breathe a sigh of relief as the line of parishioners comes to an end. As my grandmother talks to the preacher, I steal away across the street to sit atop the rocks and watch the sun set over the breaking waves.
My emotions match the tides, coming in ebbs and flows. I am offered some solace in that I’ll have a reprieve from the grief after another crying spell. My tears are as salty as the splashes of salt water stinging my face from the waves. My breathing comes in jagged spurts and I feel like I’m drowning myself.
I’m confused. It’s too much. Like my mother just a year before, the sea was her first love and it took both their lives. Why? What did I do to deserve this? Two parents who loved the sea more than their own flesh and blood and that both died so shortly into my own life.
My name is Cordelia. I’m 12 years old and now I’m an orphan.

Sarah Bourne is a lady who I had the pleasure of speaking with via social media. I asked her to be a guest on my blog and she was concerned, because her genre was not Western she thought it wasn’t suitable. I explained that I like to give my blog followers a variety and although I pen Western myself, my blog is definitely not restricted to the one genre. Thank goodness she agreed to a post. She is one fabulous author and I am thrilled to introduce you to both the lady herself and her book.

Never Laugh at Shadows is a story of love, loss and resilience.
Customer reviews on Amazon have been very positive:
“The writer’s style is smooth, engaging and compelling. Heartrending accounts of war in Uganda are realistically wrought in this moving and fast-paced novel and contrasted with England during the same period. I cared about the characters and was drawn into their world, their trials, their pain and their joy. An excellent read and am looking forward to more from this author”
