REVIEW

5*

After a vicious war, a spell is cast and the Centaurs and their bands of bullies are relegated to another realm for two thousand years.
A relative peace settles over the earth until a man inadvertently reads a spell which releases them.
All hell breaks loose. The leader of the Centaurs is twisted and out for revenge on not only the people of Earth but also some of his family.
Will he succeed in bringing the people of Earth to their knees?
What changes the course of the bloody battles?
This is a very imaginative story with Centaurs, Dwarfs, Giants and Goblins.
Although not my normal type of read, I thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend it.

The main protagonist, Willow, is a teenage girl growing up on her own in a magical world where the events of the past are a mystery. A series of events set her and her friends on a journey like no other, leading them to a new understanding of themselves, their feelings and their abilities. As they begin to unravel all that previously transpired, they find themselves the sole opposition to a plot that could destroy all existence. The one clue they have is a book filled with hundreds of predictions called ‘The Portal Prophecies’. Deciphering them however, will not be an easy task. Written by someone from their past, the pages are lined with riddle like poems. Even worse they appear to be in no particular order.

Each book is based on a different prophecy leading our heroes and heroines to new places and new friends while experiencing growing pains along the way. The entire series, delves deep into the understanding of magic and self-discovery, all the while questioning the right versus wrong equation on personal levels.

As the books progress, readers will find some new explanations for old tales, myths, legends, folk lore and unusual phenomena that could just make them question the validity of stories we all have grown up with. Vampires, Witches, Ghosts, Monsters, Santa Claus, Atlantis, Elves, Dragons, Faeries, find out the alternate truth to them all.

EXCERPT

BOOK ONE

Everything was happening so quickly. One minute Willow was talking to her friend Ashlyn and now here she was standing in a lavish room face to face with the boy from the forest. His piercing blue eyes were staring straight into hers, as if seeing her soul.

“Hello,” he said with a smile. “I was wondering if we would ever meet again. Tell me how did you escape the necrid fire?”

“How … how did you get into my dream? What happened to my friend?” Willow barked.

“How?” he laughed. “You called me here. Actually, seems a little unfair you know my name and I don’t know yours.”

Willow realized earlier she had thought of him for a brief moment. “Lance … your name. I was thinking of the forest and what happened. That was enough to call you here?”

“Yes, but how exactly do you know my name?” Lance moved to the back of a chair and rested against it waiting for a reply.

“I heard someone call you in the forest when I was running away,” she said.

“So, back to the beginning, You know my name, but what is yours?” he said.

“Why did you do it? Why did you destroy my home?” Willow asked ignoring the prince’s question.

“That is a long story. Why don’t you tell me how you escaped?” he asked getting a bit aggravated.

That seemed to be an ongoing theme for her with boys, she aggravated them. Willow’s mind turned to a similar conversation she had with Mike. She decided after remembering the duct tape that she needed to come up with an answer for the prince.

“I … don’t know,” she answered with a sigh. “I know I was in an accident and a doctor sedated me so I could rest. If you had let my friend stay longer she might have told me more.” She wasn’t really lying about that, so even if he had the ability to sense an untruth he wouldn’t question what she had just said. She wasn’t about to give him more information than she needed to. He may be cute but she wasn’t stupid.

FROM THE AUTHOR

There has been a lot of talk about mental health issues lately. I myself have been diagnosed with clinical depression. It takes up a lot of my life. Reading and writing are the only things I have found that help (in connection with regular medication), even if only for a short time. To escape to a different world can make a big difference in my mood in real life. To put things in perspective, when I was at my lowest point, I couldn’t open mail, talk on the phone or even drive to the store. Walls of sadness surrounded me. As they closed in, tears would fall, There didn’t need to be a reason or trigger.

People ask me why I started writing. My answer is simple: I wanted to create a world other people could escape to. I wanted to share the place that helped me for many years.

I read books as well as write them. I visit the worlds many different authors have created. It makes me feel better and gives me strength to face real life again. I want to thank everyone who writes. I want them to know they are making a difference.

I have always said that as long as one person finds a little bit of happiness out of my books, I am, in my opinion, an accomplished author. The same is true for every writer out there. Please don’t ever let anyone tell you different.

I’m not a poet, but I’d like to share one that I wrote after my husband’s death.

On this day your light faded away
I brought you back in hopes you’d stay
In selfish dreams I needed you there
My whole world required your care
By the time I realized it was too late
You would now suffer to a new date
I didn’t worry about how you felt
My mind clouded with the bad hand I’d been dealt
To comfort me you tried to return
I can only imagine the painful sting and burn
Once again you put your needs on hold
You always had a heart of gold
If I could go back to that very night
I’d let your soul fly peacefully into the light
I am sorry I wasn’t stronger
I only wished you’d lived a little longer.

Hope you have a great day. Keep writing and I’ll keep reading.
