“Cameron, why do you call me dove,” I asked, ready for disappointment.

Joey~
“Are you a stalker or something?” I tried to sound cool and confident, but it came out in shaky words that stumbled over my tongue.
He chuckled and I felt his chest rumble just behind me, what delightful torture.
“Why would I waste my time stalking you?” His words shattered me, this game between us left me spinning in confusion. Something hungry always sparked in his eyes when we interacted. I could the warmth that swirled in those azure eyes, but then he would open that mouth of his and ruin it.
“Excuse me?”
“Not everything is about you, little girl.”
Little girl!? I’ll show him.
I could think of a thousand things I wanted to come back with, the bitter sting of rejection was the only thing that was keeping me silent. I didn’t want to look like some wounded girl, it would only prove him right.
Shrugging out of the red leather jacket I was entertaining purchasing, I tossed it on the discard pile and went to collect the other two I had settled on. There was no reason to stick around so he could degrade me more. In fact I deiced to implement one of Marty’s tricks. Give the cold shoulder, let him stew in the fact I was big enough to walk away.
“Hold on,” he said grabbing my arm and drawing me back toward him. “I need something from you.”
“I’ll scream.”
The words just fell out, it was the first thing that jumped into my head and it was out of my mouth before I could think it through. Threatening this man was dangerous I knew that from last night, but no matter how many warning bells went off in my head I wanted this fight between us.
I wanted to yell and scream at him for the way he treated me. Not just now but last night as well. To tell Mr. Blue-eyes just how wrong he was about me, and that I did nothing to deserve this strange and icy behavior of his. Instead I settled for a stare down, fixing my glare right on him to show how serious I was. His eyes locked on me and the cocky smirk he had been sporting twisted up into a wicked grin. It might be sick but I was beginning to think he enjoyed when I challenged him.
We stood there for long unyielding seconds staring at each other, neither of us blinking or softening our hard looks. The sound of two store workers grabbed my attention, I readied to struggle or make a scene, whichever it took to get him to know I was serious and pissed. Reading myself I waited for the two women to come into view, but Cameron acted first pushing me back into one of the dressing rooms.
The heavy black curtain parted as he pushed me through until I could feel something hard at my back as the curtain fell closed behind us, shielding our interactions from the open view of the store. We were alone, completely alone among empty dressing stalls, his body between me and the exit. My rage mixed with the heat of excitement.
“What the hell?” I yelled.
I tried to pull from his grasp by placing my free hand on his chest to push. It was a half hearted attempt that faltered once my hand landed on his firm muscles, my strength left me and I melted into the contact. Cameron didn’t waste any time grabbing my wrist and securing it against the wall at my side. The swift movement and command of my body left me flushed from the thrill, what was happening to me? I was like a child interacting with their first crush.
“Don’t you dare.” He growled, the smirk gone from his face. “You remember last night. Remember that danger, the very real threat to your life.”

The Rainmaker book 2 in the Chosen Saga series by Petra Landon is LIVE!!!
Tasia Armstrong is no longer a friendless Wizard on the fringes of San Francisco’s Chosen community. Publicly entwined with a powerful Shifter Pack, she must navigate the minefield of Pack politics and Chosen intrigue, while guarding her secrets from the Magicks who hunt her. With a Pack to defend her, a powerful Alpha to protect her interests, and friends to watch her back, her life is a far cry from before. But though living with the Shifters proves challenging for a Chosen more used to the shadows, it is the investigation that poses the greatest threat to Tasia.
The stakes have never been higher as old fault lines, long-buried secrets, Wizard dysfunction, and Lady Bethesda’s machinations draw the Chosen ever closer to a civil war. Tasia finds herself at the crossroads – at stake are her carefully constructed house of cards and her tangled relationship with the man who holds her enemies at bay. Will Tasia risk opening Pandora’s Box or will she walk away from her friends to disappear into the shadows again?

VICTORIAN TOWN
by Nancy Thorne
Abby Parker planned out her whole life: complete her final year of high school, go to college, get a job, move away from her insane family, stay best friends with Jessica.
But, that was before she broke into the nearby tourist attraction and unwittingly answered a call from a centuries-old spirit who dragged her into the 19th century.
Now she must solve a Victorian mystery without getting herself killed, or worse, spend a lifetime trapped in the past, leaving behind everyone she loves and altering their lives forever.
When she meets gorgeous Benjamin, the future looks a lot like wreckage.
I waited for him to make the next move, to tell me how inappropriate, how forward that was of me. As I struggled to think of how best to offer an explanation, he turned to me. Gently but deliberately, he moved his hand up my arm, stopping at the nape of my neck beneath the ribbon of the bonnet.
The moment he leaned in, I closed my eyes. His lips, soft and full, touched mine with the modest pressure of an indecisive act. A warm energy coursed through my body, but the strangest thing was that everything felt unbelievably familiar, like it had all been rehearsed before that moment. I held onto this profound feeling, not wanting it to leave, until Ben removed his lips from mine.
Even with the whistled melodies from a pair of cardinals outside the church’s entrance, the following silence felt awkward. It persisted, and I assumed Ben was already regretting kissing me.
“Miss Abigail−”
I brought up a hand and covered his mouth. “It’s okay.”
We walked down the hill without saying another word. A lot of activity was happening on Main Street: coaches lined the front of the Royal Hotel as travelers zipped in and out of the main entrance; horse carts delivered goods in dashes of haste; store merchants hurried beyond their open doors; street sellers sold goods out of baskets; helpers swept the boardwalk; ladies could be seen purchasing last minute necessities behind the windows of each shop.
Ben accompanied me up the stairs of Town Hall’s entrance and stopped on the landing before we reached the front door. I peered through the window. Martha arranged long-stemmed flowers in a vase on a table at the side of the ballroom. A young man placed a candelabra on a table and then another on top of a piano. Ben had already started back to the street when I turned. He waved. I waved back. Still a chance he’ll change his mind.
The gloves were easier to remove now that one was missing its button. I placed them, and the button, on the ledge of the window and took off the ring.
Jess was still sitting on my bed when the haze cleared, but her tapping fingers had moved from her chin, which now rested on her knuckles. It was obvious it had taken longer for me to return this time. It made sense to me right then that the ring held within it a finite amount of energy with which to transport me to the past and back home, like a battery depleting its energy with each use. And, I had no idea how to recharge it
