Scozzari

Presents : Blog Tour

Scozzari
by Jaimie Roberts

Series: Deviant; Book 3
Genre: NA Romance w/ Suspense
Jeremy (Jez) Scozzari

At the age of four, I was kidnapped by an enemy of my father, and as a result of that day, I have learned to fight. Since the age of eighteen, I’ve been known as Jez (One Punch) Scozzari because the full force of my fist is enough to take down my opponent with just one hit.

With the help of my dad, I turned into a tatted up machine — built for speed, built for stamina … in all senses of the word. I was prepared to fight, prepared for practically anything. But nothing had prepared me for the girl who had once stolen my heart to come catapulting back into my life again. One look from her when she turned up that day at college, and I was back to when I was ten-years-old. She was my first crush … my first kiss.

And now that she’s back, there’s no way I’m going to let her escape this time.

Caitlin Summers

When I was ten, I fell for a boy who stole my heart. He was sweet, kind and gentle. He was my first kiss — the one who made a lasting impression.

Then, at the age of thirteen, I had to move, leaving behind my heart which belonged to that sweet, kind, and gentle boy.

Now, I’m back, hearing that the sweet boy I left behind has turned into this tattooed bad boy with a reputation for fighting … and an equal reputation for sleeping around.

I was determined not to let him in. Determined to put my walls up so high that not even the famous “One Punch” Scozzari could penetrate them.

But then came my first day of college when I saw him for the very first time in almost six years. One look from him and my solid walls came down with an earth-shattering crash. Just that one look and he had me … and he knew he had me.

That was day one of Jeremy stalking me.

I’m screwed.

Shadow Love

Title: Shadow Love
Author: SF Benson writing as Nadirah Foxx
Genre: Paranormal Romance with Suspense Elements
Publisher: Fire Quill Publications/Erika Bester
Editor: Tia Silverthorne Bach
Publication Date: October 30th, 2018
Vampire fangs, vials of dragon’s blood, and tarot cards. Just a few of the oddities found at Vanpeer’s—a metaphysical gift shop found in the French Quarter. But when the owner, Twilight Vanpeer, uncrates an obsidian mirror she’s unprepared for the secrets it unlocks.
The sudden arrival of a tall handsome stranger, Dwade Marks, jostles Twilight’s life. Suddenly, she’s dealing with memories that make no sense. But bad dreams aren’t that serious when that’s all they are. Hers, unfortunately, contain an awareness that needs to stay hidden.
Adding to the weirdness is the fact Twilight is torn between two men—Dwade and her lifelong best friend, Preston Montgomery. One man is the key to her past while the other holds her future.
Things get out of hand quickly when someone starts killing women who look like Twilight. Both men are suspicious but only one can hold her heart.
Twilight has serious choices to make—own up to her past or bury it deep. One option appeases the gods while the other speaks to the shadow found in all of us.
Nadirah Foxx, the alter ego for SF Benson, has a fondness for dark, twisted romance featuring suspense and adventure. Her characters are flawed. But no matter what their obstacles or demons might be they always find a way around them.

A low voice, almost a shallow whisper, calls to me and I move toward the mirror. I take one last glimpse at Preston as remorse moves through me. When I became aware, I had no intention of ever letting the shadows take over. Unfortunately, Tezcatlipoca forces the issue.
The voice gets louder as the darkness ebbs and flows, taking shape. The sinister shadow, black as night, steps out of its midst. It surrounds me like a death shroud.
“Come to me,” I say directly to its evil core.
Terrors from another time—one after another—fill my mind. I see the moment I made my request of the Lady of the Dead along with her fated words.
“A girl shall be born bearing your sigil. Find this body and regain your powers and knowledge. When Tezcatlipoca finds it, he will guide you. Only he can unite the soul and the body. But beware, Sin-Eater, he will learn your truth. When he does, your soul will return to Mictlán.”
The shadow slinks back toward the mirror but stops just before breaching the surface. A pair of glowing eyes land on me.
It’s time, Sin-Eater.
I inhale deeply, steadying myself. “Tezcatlipoca, something is wrong.”
His arm wraps around my waist, holding me in place. “It’s nothing to fear, Tlazolteotl. It’s just your memories returning.”
The shadow nods, and its eyes drift toward Tezcatlipoca. Pointing at the mirror, I exclaim, “No. This is worse than any memory I’ve ever had. See for yourself!”
He swears unintelligible words, and his head swings toward the black glass. When he does, smoky tendrils rise from the surface and wrap around him. The Aztec god isn’t strong enough to fight against the beast. Unfortunately, I’m forced to watch the scene playing within the smoking mirror.
Quetzalcoatl and Tezcatlipoca were always at war with each other. On that fated night, I created a special brew to intoxicate Quetzalcoatl. Tezcatlipoca had nefarious plans for his brother, but they were cruelly intercepted.
“My lord,” I said as I approached the bare-chested god.
“Drink this and be merry. For there is a young maiden waiting for you in your chambers.”
Quetzalcoatl, always eager for a night of sex, drank cup after cup of the enchanted elixir. When I was certain he was thoroughly intoxicated, I led him into his room.
He lowered his body onto the petlatl and allowed me to undress him.
The plan was for the god to mistakenly commit incest by sleeping with his sister. Tezcatlipoca had the unsuspecting girl drugged so that she would fall asleep in her brother’s chamber.

We have band practice this afternoon, our first official one since the guys have been back. I’m in no mood to socialize, but I figure playing will do me some good. And at least I can just head upstairs from Sebastian’s garage to sleep off this mood when we’re done.
“…every fucking time,” Steve is saying as I push through the door into Sebastian’s garage. I didn’t catch the first bit, but it’s enough to know he’s in a mood too. This should be a fantastic practice.
“Hey,” I say to no one in particular, keeping my eyes down and heading for my amp. It’s in a pile of equipment near the door, unloaded from the van, but obviously not put back into place yet. Steve’s drum kit is already set, but it’s noticeably empty looking in here without the cymbals. Might be why he’s in such a shitty mood.
“Dad got us a gig at Poncho’s on the twenty-ninth,” Sebastian says. Poncho’s is a local Mexican restaurant—not at all suited to our band. I’m not sure if he’s telling me, or all of us, but a second later I look up from hooking up my amp to see they’re all staring at me.
I can get into playing. I probably need to be playing. But playing for people right now? I’m not so sure about that.
“Can we take a breather for a bit?” I say, finally.
“Ptfh.” Steve throws his drumsticks in the general vicinity of his drums.
I honestly figured the guys would have a little more patience and compassion for me at a time like this. Jeff is sneering, looking just as pissed off. Sebastian sits behind our small soundboard, looking unfazed. Which is probably what makes me clue in. Sebastian hasn’t told them about my mom. They have no idea what I’ve been going through.
The thing is, I don’t think I have it in me to tell them now. I’d been so worried about losing them, so convinced that they were my family, but looking around at them now, I feel completely detached.
“Listen, I’m out,” I say. I back up from my amp and grab for my guitar. Obviously I’m not going to march up the stairs to Sebastian’s bedroom after making this statement, and so I avoid looking at all of their faces and head for the outside door. “Hope you can find a replacement before the twenty-ninth.”
It’s not sarcastic. I truly hope they can.
