I’m finally finished with High School and most of the people in it. I have a few friends but I’m sick of being called names and feeling like an outcast.

If that wasn’t confusing enough, his penetrating grey eyes dive straight into my soul. I can’t help but wonder what he sees there and why he wants to look in the first place.

After a bold and probably foolish move on my part, Clay is determined to haunt me and make this summer unforgettable.

Little did we both know, but this summer would indeed be unforgettable in every meaning of the word. Just not the way he had planned!

She grabs the worn copy from me and hands me a newer looking one, “You can borrow this one, if you’d like to read it. This is a classic and will always be my

favourite one. Until the day I find my own Mr. Darcy, everyone must live up to him.”

“Mr. Darcy, huh?” I say turning towards her, promises made to her mom fast forgotten, I take a step to close the gap between us. Changing our positions, I push her back to her bookshelf and place both my hands on each side of her head. My insides burn with need to get another taste of this delicious

creature in front of me.

Lifting one hand off it’s resting place, I run a finger down her cheek all the way to where her collarbone meets her neck, “Can Mr. Darcy do this?” I taunt, her pupils enlarge in response. 

Tilting my head, I decide to replace my finger with the tip of my tongue, “Does Mr. Darcy feel like this?” I tease, her breath hitches, chest rising and falling up against mine in a rapid speed. 

I place an open mouth kiss to her collarbone “Can Mr. Darcy make you shake with need?” I growl in her ear, earning myself a needy moan.

Her hands tangle in my hair, as she pulls me to herself making us one, “Mr. Darcy has nothing on the way you make me feel, Clay,” she says in a breathy way and crushes her lips to mine.

I love writing and reading about love. There’s nothing better than two characters finding each other in unusual situations and conquering all odds to be together. *Sigh* Regardless the genre – paranormal, contemporary, fantasy – if there’s romance–I wanna read it!

I was born in Hawai’i but grew up most of my life in a small town in Michigan and the sunny beaches of Florida. After graduating high school, I return to my island ohana for college where I wrote my thesis on how to write a young adult book. (Oddly enough)

Her mind reeled at the pieces of her ordeal filtering back into her memory. Throbbing pain. Splattered blood. Shards of glass. The guy looking younger and transforming into a wolf. What the hell was happening?
“Who are you?” the guy whispered.
“I’m Infiniti. I’m from Houston. Who are you?”
“I’m Joe, and I’m from here. Havenwood Falls.”
“Havenwood Falls?”
“Yeah.” He leaned over the table. “The town close to where you crashed. You were transported to the medical center.” He moved in even closer. “You disappeared.”
She stared at him in disbelief. She pressed her back against the booth. It took her a minute to find her voice. “I what?”
“You vanished. We searched for you for days. Months even. With no leads, we had to give up.”
Her hands folded and unfolded on her lap. Her mind raced. “I crashed. I woke up, and I walked over here.”
“You woke up? As in, just now?”
“Yes.”
“Now now?”
“Yes. Like ten minutes ago now.”
His brows stitched together. He rubbed his chin. “So what happened to the last six years?”
Six years?
She examined his face. He most definitely looked six years older, but her car crash had happened that day. So that would be impossible. But then she thought of all the sci-fi movies she’d seen, and all her supernatural paraphernalia at home—her Ouija board, the spiritual cards her neighbor Jan had given her. She was a believer in all things unexplained, but had something otherworldly really happened to her? As in, for real?
Her hands trembled. She shivered. “It’s 2018?”

“Yeah, it’s 2018.”

By the time Thanksgiving rolled around the snow had returned to Northeastern Wyoming and they couldn’t wait to spend the weekend at the Harper Ranch horseback riding and snowmobiling. “So, are you ready for this?” Michael asked Sadie as they pulled into his grandmother’s driveway.

“Yeah, I can’t wait. I love your large, crazy family.”

“And they love you. I personally can’t wait for tonight. You’re going to love the surprise I have for you.”

“You do know that I’m not fond of surprises, don’t you?”

“I know,” he smirked. “But this one is amazing and I gave you a hint.”

“What, that it involves nighttime, a snowstorm, and a snowmobile? That tells me nothing.”

“It’s all you’re getting, SaySay. And I promise you’ll love it.” At least he hoped she would. It was time to confess his feelings and hope for the best. Tonight was the night.

“Well I better,” she teased. “Or there will be hell to pay.”

Michael opened his door and slipped out of the car. When Sadie didn’t follow, he leaned back in. “What, you’ll make me eat your cooking?” Sticking his tongue out at her, he turned and fled into the warm, cozy house. Sadie was right on his heels.

“Whoa you two,” Evie Harper admonished. “What’s going on here?”

“Nothing, Grandma,” Michael said with a big smile. “I was just telling Sadie how much I love her cooking. And she was telling me how sweet I was.”

Sadie’s look was incredulous. “Michael Harper Croft…”

“Well isn’t that nice,” Evie enthused as she pulled on Sadie’s hand. “I was just saying how I wished I had someone who could help cook half of Thanksgiving dinner for me. Come into the kitchen and I’ll get you an apron.”

Sadie couldn’t do anything but follow her as she looked back at Michael in horror. “Uh…Mrs. Harper, I really can’t cook.”

“I figured, dear. We’ll just let my naughty grandson stew in his juices for a while.”

Sadie smiled and relaxed. “I can’t cook but I’m a good helper.”

“I was counting on it,” Evie smiled.

She finished her first book relatively quickly, but life got in the way and it took her eight years to revisit it and then publish her first novel. She can honestly say that now she is finally right where she wants to be.

JJ has been married to her college sweetheart (and romance novel hero) for twenty-one years and they reside in Casper, WY with their kids and one crazy mutt named Kreuger.
