A hard-earned shield.

Days before she is to take her place as a shield maiden, like her mother before her, two deaths alter the course of Liv’s future. One belonged to a witch who called her by name, the other a chieftain from the north. Vengeance for the chieftain’s death comes in a wild fury that burns her village and slaughters her family. Left for dead, Liv pleads to Skuld – norn and weaver of the future – to spare her. A deal is struck that will endow her with the dark magic needed to claim her vengeance. But this power comes at an unfathomable price…

Ink made from the ashes of loved ones.

After his home is attacked, Calder races to warn neighboring villages of the threat. Little does he know he’s traveling into the path of fate that will lead him straight to Liv. Despite being broken, angry, and overwhelmed by power she cannot contain, it’s her willingness to defend others that draws Calder to her.

Armor forged from the bones of those she held dear.

Together, Liv and Calder discover they are two sides of the same sharpened blade. Rising from the heartache and fury in their pasts, they see a future together worth fighting for. With their strengths and hearts combined, can they become a force powerful enough to defeat the fleet of darkness coming for them? Or will the thread of fate that binds them unravel?

Hosted by: Lady Amber’s PR
Blurb:
Emery St. James never dreamed of being a contestant in one of those dramatic baking contests. But then her life turned into a reality show of epic proportions.
Owning a bakery was her childhood dream – and the pompous rich boy who opens a French pastry café right down the street, her worst nightmare. The last thing she needs as she struggles to make ends meet is competition. Even more annoyingly, competition by the name of Marshall Bartlett, who has the nerve to steal her parking spot and insult her bakery. But putting Marshall out of her mind isn’t a piece of cake. Not when both families attempt to broker peace by blackmailing them into five “get to know you” dates, and especially not when Emery’s sex-starved grandmother is chaperoning from afar.
Will their dates go down as easily as Emery’s cherry cobbler, or will they be a recipe for disaster?

Emily Cyr is a stay-at-home mom turned writer. She holds a degree in middle grades education with certification in English and social science. She has always had a love of all things paranormal and fantasy, but it wasn’t until Emily’s husband said the words, “Why not?” that she considered putting her thoughts and ideas into the book, The Lightning Prophecy. This trilogy was just the start for Emily. It seemed to open a creative door that had been locked.
Emily has always been an avid reader. Through reading came her love of writing. The more she read, the more she knew she wanted to create her own world. Many of her first works were fan fiction.
Emily and her family currently reside in Cibolo, Texas. She has an incredibly supportive husband who is also an officer in the United States Air Force. They have three sons, ages 6, 4, and 1. Somehow, even with the demands of being a parent to two little boys, she finds time to escape to her fantasies and write them down.

Erin

Deliverance.

“The action of being rescued or set free.”

I never thought I would need to be rescued or set free from anything in my life, but that all
changed when I took a taxi home after a night out with my friends.

But the taxi didn’t take me home. It took me to a warehouse filled with women in cages, and I found
out that I was the newest captive. I was told I was lucky. I wasn’t lucky. This
was my karma for flirting with the bouncer at the nightclub when I had a
boyfriend waiting for me at home.

Ricardo

Savior.

“A person who saves someone or something (especially a country or cause) from danger, and who
is regarded with the veneration of a religious figure.”

I was a Navy SEAL, trained to save people. After I was medically discharged, my uncle tricked me
and got me involved with the wrong family in New York City when I needed a job.
Right away, the king made sure I watched him kill a soldier for falling in love
with one of his girls, which meant I couldn’t act on my feelings when I fell in
love with Erin. But I knew she sparked my interest at the club for a reason. I
needed to save her.

Except, year after year, we were living in a nightmare of sex, lies, and murders because the only
way out was to make the king fall, and I knew I had to wait for the perfect
moment in time.

Or we would both be dead.

Before Zell was born, her fate was sealed.

Held captive in a high-rise overlooking New York City since the age of twelve, she had no friends
her own age, no life outside of the penthouse, and absolutely no choices of her
own. But what she didn’t realize was the tower where she lost her freedom would
one day become her salvation. Her prince would arrive, they would fall in love,
and they would come up with a plan for her to escape so they could live happily
ever after.

If only it were that easy.

Every girl dreams of her life becoming a fairy tale, even Zell, who’s knowledge of romance was
simply from the books she stole from other girls at the brothel.

In a world where sex, drugs, and manipulation is solely the life she knows, the only fairy tale
poor Zell would endure would be a sinister one …

Because freedom always comes at a price.

One Prince. One Witch. One Fate.
The upheaval in my life began the moment a prince stumbled into my house and asked me to read his fortune. Any other night, I might have made an excuse to get him to leave, but this was no normal visit. My fingers prickled to touch him. So, I granted his request by handing him a single wishbone. When he snapped it, the wish … bled.
Hearing me suck in a shocked breath, he asked what it meant. Such an ominous omen could only mean one thing: his death was imminent. Fate revealed that he wouldn’t die of natural causes. Someone wanted him dead. Stunned by the revelation, the man I now knew as Prince Tauren disappeared into a night I feared he wouldn’t survive. The following day, I received an invitation to the castle. While it seemed the prince believed I could intervene and uncover who was plotting his death, his motives didn’t stop there. I was being summoned to join twelve other women in vying for the opportunity to be his wife and future queen.
Going could mean jeopardizing my plans to reclaim my heritage and resurrect the House of Fate. But staying would guarantee Tauren’s death, and the blood of his wish would be on my hands.

“I need to change?” I looked at my outfit as we got off the elevator. I’d just changed
before dinner, and I thought I’d done a pretty good job.

“Tomorrow they have to clean for the alumni barbecue, so this will be one of the biggest
parties of the year. All the brothers and potentials will be there.”

I had no clue what potentials were, and my hope for an intimate hang out with Mark, Lila, and
Ross vanished like a puff of smoke.

In my room, Lila browsed through my closet. Finding something awesome to wear really meant
she would choose what she wanted me to wear. This was a long tradition in our
friendship, and I didn’t fight it. She always looked great, although sometimes
a little risqué for my tastes. I’d learned how to make her happy without
sacrificing my standards. Picking an outfit from the many choices Marissa had
added would just give me a headache anyway.

Lila held up a pair of jeans and a skirt. I pointed to the jeans and she frowned. She was
constantly trying to get me to wear more skirts. Pants helped my legs look
longer. Only reaching five-two, looking taller always equaled better in my
book. In the end, Lila threw a dark pair of skinny jeans, a spaghetti-strapped
blue top, and strappy wedge sandals at me as she walked out the door. I dressed
and touched up my makeup and hair. She returned not minutes later, in a short
dress and wedges. Looking in the mirror, she added darker liner and shadow to
my eyes.

Taking the elevator down to the lobby, she opened an app on her phone. “You have to get on
this. It’s the best way to get a ride.”

After sitting in the car half the day, walking was more appealing to me. In my heels I’d
probably only make it two blocks, so I followed her lead. “Are you sure about
this? Is it safe?”

“Sure, I’ve been doing it forever.”

“You never did it in Champaign.”

She rolled her eyes. “Okay, well since I came here. We’re not going to end up in a dumpster.
Well I’m not, you’re the one with bad luck.” She handed me her phone with the
company’s safety information.

“If we’re going by the superstition that bad luck comes in threes, I’m done.”

“You’re counting Law?”

“Course.” These days I was counting every incident I could to believe I was finished with my
run of bad luck. I scrolled through the safety information and realized it was
totally legit. I passed her phone back to her.

“See, your dad’s got you paranoid.”

“Isn’t it expensive?”

“How much do you make tutoring? Twenty-five an hour, right? This is five bucks and the bus
will take an hour on the weekend.”

A car pulled up, and she opened the door and waved me in. The driver routed through the
deserted main campus. The streets and lawns grew more crowded as we neared the
Greek houses.

I fidgeted with my necklace, and Lila batted my hand from my neck. “You met a good number of
the guys this summer. You remember Bill, right?”

“Sure.” I reminded myself that one reason for coming to school here was to meet new
people.

Lila paid the driver, and we took a narrow path that ran along the side of the building to
the back of the house. Mark and Ross were playing volleyball in the sandpit, and
we greeted them with a wave. Mark was a great player and loved the game. He’d
tried, mostly in vain, to improve my skills over the summer.

As we sat on the grass to watch the match, a yellow lab lumbered over to me and rubbed
against my legs. I patted her head and she curled up at my feet. If Kate
counted, I’d made my second new friend.

The guys made the game look easy, expending little effort in lofting the ball back and forth
over the net. I recognized Bill from this summer. Two exceptionally tall guys
on his team stood out, and I could’ve watched them play all night.

Defeated by Bill’s team, Mark and Ross sauntered over to where we were sitting. Mark
collapsed on top of my outstretched legs, displacing the dog who circled behind
me.

“Eww, sweaty boy!” I tried to push him off, but it was like pushing against a brick wall. I
gave up. “Decent game, you only lost by three.” He rolled off, standing to
replace his shirt.

Bill and the taller guys from the other team approached us, retrieving their shirts from the
lawn. Mark motioned them towards me. “Hey, you guys should meet Amanda.”

I stood quickly, fighting the urge to brush away any grass that might be clinging to my
pants.

“Hi, I’m Bill. We met this summer.”

“Right, good game.” I shook his outstretched hand.

“Thanks.” He motioned towards the house. “Sorry, I need some water.”

“This is Doug, our president,” Mark continued.

Still shirtless, Doug held out his hand towards me. Purposely making eye contact, I
slid my hand into his.

“Avery, right, your dad’s an alum.”

With olive skin and dark wavy hair, my Bubbe would’ve said he was Greek. But she had a thing
for Greeks. He sported a perfect five o’clock shadow, and his deep blue eyes
were focused on me. I forced myself to concentrate.

“Right.” I nodded not knowing what else to say. My face felt like it was engulfed in
flames. Seriously, couldn’t Mark have waited to introduce us until after they
had their shirts on?

“And this is Zack,” Mark pointed to the super tall blond beside Doug. “He’s our VP.”
