THE KISS THAT KILLED ME

But on a night like any other, when the moon is full over the ocean, her life changes in a way that nobody ever sees coming. On the sandy beache
s of San Diego she meets Orion, a man with whom she cannot stay away, to whom her return becomes as inevitable as the tide kissing the shore. If that isn’t enough, a kiss which changes everything plunges Callie head first into a world of Mythic responsibility, epic danger and heart stopping romance. The Mer, an ancient race of warriors brought forth to defend the seas, show her wonders beyond what is humanly possible, forcing her into an archaic chain of events that bring together power, seduction, violence and beauty in a terrifying yet exhilarating mix. Then there’s The Banished to contend with, a group of Psirens, corrupted by the Oceans abyss, that stand to destroy the eternity Callie has been promised. Will she sacrifice herself for the greater good, or is the gravity that pulls her to Orion just too great to bear?
THE KISS THAT SAVED ME
Four months have passed since the night Callie Pierce fulfilled her destiny as the Vessel and her world is shifting faster than ever before. The Occulta Mirum is in disarray, still reeling from the demise of its longest reigning monarch and its people have a decision to make, on which more lies balanced than they know. As Callie and Orion rise together to new responsibility, dealing with the consequences of what has passed, Callie finds herself changed and looking into the shadow of the deep for answers. The life she’s been thrown into isn’t what she expected, and as the responsibility of her new found position among the mer mounts, the cracks in the fantasy world she so loves are starting to show. Can then, the dark mystique of the Psiren’s world be what Callie was destined for all along?
Get ready to ride into the world of the Occulta Mirum at greater depth than ever before. As Callie learns the truth of the ancient agenda of three brothers, and comes face to face with the temptation and allure of what will seemingly save everyone she loves.
THE KISS THAT CHANGED ME
As two brothers reach the final phase of their plan to seize the stolen powers of a God made flesh, the Psirens lay claim to the debris of the Occulta Mirum. With this, a race against the rising blood moon l begins.
As the seconds tick away, Callie and Orion must journey to the farthest corners of the earth, learning to balance devotion and duty whilst reuniting the segregated Kindred of the Circle of Eight. If this is not enough the function of the conduit is still unknown, meaning Callie and Orion must learn democratic flair in multicultural waters to convince others to risk their lives as well. With their foretold future together in the balance, their unity has never been so crucial and one’s willingness to sacrifice the other for the greater good never more necessary.
Can the journey of an immortal lifetime hold answers to salvation, or will it only bring the mer to their final resting place as their race is threatened with extinction.

Most girls dream of being princesses, but one princess just wants to be a normal girl.
Ella Carina, crown princess of Aelawyn, knows brutality and lies—she’s seen the way her father rules. Princess. Possession. To her father, the words had the same meaning. She was only as valuable as the alliance formed with her betrothal. Her freedom comes from an unlikely place: an attack on the castle.

I was in my room, lost in my own worries, when the world as I knew it was torn to shreds.
My room was large, and with only a bed and wardrobe inside, it was far too spacious than anything I needed. But it was also my sanctuary. It had to be. Father didn’t allow me to leave the space without an escort, and only then when he gave me permission, which wasn’t often. I considered myself lucky to have a window until that day.
The horrors I saw from that window would stay with me forever.
Sitting quietly in the alcove, watching the comings and goings of the villagers, was how I learned the ever-changing styles in fashion and beauty, how gentlemen and ladies were to properly act, and how some acted very improperly when they thought no one was watching.
The day the Kingdom of Aelawyn fell, I was watching and envying the lives of her people.
Nothing seemed amiss as three large, covered wagons approached the front gate. The man driving the horses that pulled the lead wagon shouted to the guard atop the gate, announcing that they carried supplies, taken from another forest raid. They were granted immediate entry, Father’s guard raising the portcullis for them.
One by one, the wagons crept into the yard. As soon as the gate slammed back to the ground behind the third wagon, a loud whoop sounded. The guards were stunned, so much so that it took far too long for them to spring into action and defend the castle. The wagon canvases were torn to shreds as a small army, clad in armor and donning swords, shields, and all manner of weaponry, unfolded from the wagons and began to slash their way across the yard.
They did not take time to discern villager from soldier, male from female, innocent from guilty.
A river of blood flowed in their wake, draining between the cobblestones. They were so skilled and efficient in battle that they entered the castle before any alarm could be raised to stop them. In no time, they’d taken the castle itself.

MINEFIELD

Deadly Gambit, Book 2

by K.H. Bixby

Genre: Thriller

Complications mount when Sam Turan agrees to work part-time for Heidelberg Bank and dedicate the rest of his time to rebuilding his homeland in the Middle East. Conspiracies and plots threaten his relationship with the Adler heiress and attempts to blow him up escalates the danger level. Sam can only trust a handful of friends. With the ground shifting beneath him, is anyone what they claim to be?

Speaking in a casual tone Sami said. “Face me as if we were just chatting.” Amanj moved and watched his friend’s face, studying every nuance that flickered across it. “What did you see?” “A flash of light in the higher foothills. Yesterday that meant binoculars. I wanted to see if it is repeated.”

He paused as he scanned the hills, looking over his friend’s shoulder. “Yes, there it is again. We need to join the others. We’re being watched. I’ll keep talking to you in that direction.”

“Sami, it could be something else. No point in being subtle.” He stopped and scanned the skies, then finally pointed. “There.” A small dark speck was silhouetted against the sky, coming toward them from the far end of the town. He began running toward the older men.

“DRONE! SCATTER!”

Sami sprinted right beside his friend, trying to watch his footing on the uneven ground and the sky at the same time. The drone’s buzzing was getting louder. The older men broke into a run, too, each heading in a slightly different direction.

As the two got to a cypress tree on the outskirts of the town, Amanj ducked into its shadows. Instantly he slipped the large rifle from his shoulder and pointed it at the swiftly enlarging black dot in the air. Now the buzzing was like standing next to a hornet’s nest. They watched as the drone dropped in altitude a little and changed course.

“You have the range?”

“I will in less than a minute. It won’t be able to see clearly what I’m doing from the shadow of the tree and neither will our watcher. Come on. Just a little bit closer you evil wasp!”

The drone was over where the three men had been and was still flying. Amanj let out his breath and gently squeezed the trigger. Less than a heartbeat later the drone exploded. Light flashed and a fiery blossom exploded in the sky. A puff of smoke and black bits rained down.

“That devil was armed. Otherwise it wouldn’t have exploded like that.”

“Shit. The fun just continues.” Sami looked over at his friend, a little rattled but trying to be calm. “Im-press-ive!

Shell Game

Uprooted from the violence of his homeland, Sami Turan leads a sheltered existence in New York until an explosive encounter with a family member brings back to the surface all he’d lost. On a mission to right a wrong in the best way he can think of, he discovers monsters wear many masks.

Trying to correct his ill-conceived actions, he inadvertently nudges out of balance the first domino of an overlooked international conflict.

Will his actions help his homeland or will he end up starting the next world war? At what price? And will the monsters he exposes in the process be obliterated?

As a person who views news and politics with the fascination of watching a train-wreck, Bixby is driven to extract what IS discussed and twist it into the light of what ISN’T.

Writing fiction, but keeping it within parameters of the believable and possible, K.H.’s thrillers grab the reader, causing them to wonder … is the story real?
